Seashells are dried marine shells — scallops, cowries, clams, and spirals — used in resin to suggest the shore. Their ridges and pearly interiors catch light under a clear pour. Dry and seal them first so they do not bubble, then set a few into a tacky layer before the cap. Crushed shell reads as sand; one whole shell is enough as a focal point.
Seashells are the hard remains of marine mollusks — clams, scallops, cowries, limpets, and tiny spiral shells — collected from the shore and dried for resin work. In a pour they read as the beach itself: ridged fans, pearly interiors, and chalky whites against clear or blue epoxy.
They suit ocean trays, coasters, geode edges, and jewelry because they are light, detailed, and already shaped. A whole scallop can sit as a wave crest. Crushed shell becomes sand. A single cowrie works as a focal inclusion. The nacre inside many shells flashes silver or pink once a clear cap layer wets the surface.
For resin, shells must be fully dry and free of sand and salt. A thin pre-coat of resin seals pores so trapped air does not bubble out later. Set them in a tacky layer, then pour the clear cap so they stay where you placed them instead of floating. Too many large shells in one pour cloud the piece and can leave soft spots around the edges. A few clean shells, a line of fine grit, and a thin white foam swipe usually look more natural than a packed beach.
Every order is packed by hand — resin and wax double-boxed, glass and moulds padded. Shipping is worked out at checkout from your pincode.
